Sameera Steward

Sameera optioned her first screenplay in 2013 which went on to place on the Britlist. She has worked with companies such as Netflix, BBC, Fremantle, Lime Pictures and ITV Studios.

 

Sameera wrote two episodes of the global hit tv show GEEK GIRL for Netflix/Corus from the Holly Smale bestselling novel, which went to number 1 in the worldwide Netflix charts, and Top 5 in the UK. Sameera is currently working with Rollem/BBC (Lucy Richer) on VIVIEN, a four-part drama about the life of Vivien Leigh and battle with bipolar disorder, and her previous credits include three episodes of season one of BBC/Netflix GET EVEN and two episodes of their follow up series REBEL CHEER SQUAD. She also wrote on the 10th series of THE DUMPING GROUND.

Sameera enjoys exploring messy, challenging, complex anti-heroes in a bold, accessible, and entertaining way. She has a strong desire to explore stories from the perspective of those who aren't as often given the microphone, and is drawn to topics that tackle themes of injustice, psychological battles, and real life, real strength, endurance stories - both through a comedic and a dramatic lens.
